Chapter D September 2011
Hi Wingers,
Can you believe that it’s September already? After July’s heat, I’m looking forward to some cooler weather. There are a few more “special” days this month. Early in the month, we have a three-day holiday weekend, Labor Day. On the 11th, remember to fly “Old Glory” on Patriot Day and Grandparent’s Day. We can also recognize the coming of autumn on September 23.
Where did the summer go? Chapter D celebrated their “Friends and Family” social on August 5. I’ll tell you more about what went on in next month’s article. Chapter D also held several evening rides on scenic roads to enjoy good companionship, good scenery, and even good food. I want to personally thank those who stepped forward to lead those rides.
With autumn’s approach, we need to be more watchful than ever for those love-making deer, which sometimes put their lives in our paths as they seek out their love interests. Watch out also for nuts, acorns, and gravel on roadways at this time of year.
Next month, October, we’ll want to congratulate Chapter H for their 30th Anniversary as a GWRRA Wisconsin chapter. Since Chapter D was an “offspring” of Chapter H, we want to recognize the leadership of the chapter who kept it all “on track” over the years. We can only hope that our own, younger, Chapter D, can withstand the test of time to grow and last as long.
In October, our social will on the seventh at the Local Pointe Restaurant about five miles north of the Dells on Highways 12 and 16. As usual the starting time is at 7:00 p.m.
Until we get together personally, (soon I hope) ride safe and we’ll see you “down the road.”
Don and Tina
